Masks and Lies, a Poem to Society (11-14-06)

My eyes lie
They tell a different story
If you look you’ll only see
The things you want to see

Make sure you don’t break my
Fragile mask
The subtle lies I say and show keep the
Glass from breaking

Emotions are a weakness
As many like you would say
But anger and jealousy are the
Ones you know the best

The white ribbon tied around your
Neck hides the lies you tell yourself
You never tried, or so you say, to end
Your life and “save” the day.____

The world wears a mask of perfection
The myriad of hidden lies
Tell the truth that some would seek
And cry the tears of pasts forgotten in our
Mad scramble
For the masks of precarious perfection

Chronic materialistic ideas distort the natural order
Leaving humans empty, lifeless shells
Liaisons of death and lies
Taunts our hearts and stains our eyes

Stop manipulating our fickle freedom
The masks are slowly slipping
Letting our true…fiendish selves through
Watch our black feathered wings show,
Shining in bloody ebony

Step back while we overcome, shattering
The life you know
Tainting your “perfect” ideas with blood…emotions….life

Live your life the way you want
Put your ideas to your own use
In your own life, Don’t teach or preach it to
The ones who don’t want it
